Police: High School Student Had Stolen Gun

A 16-year-old boy faces several charges

Authorities say a stolen loaded gun was taken from a Boston high school student the same day of a a student was shot and killed near another city high school.

Boston police say a school police officer at Brighton High School found out that a 16-year-old boy from Dorchester had a gun on Wednesday morning, and after performing a pat frisk, found a Bryco Arms Jennings J-22 handgun in his pants pocket.

The student, who hasn't been named, was placed into police custody without incident.

He's expected to appear in Boston Juvenile Court on several charges, including unlawful possession of a firearm on school property and possession of a stolen firearm.

On Wednesday, a 17-year-old student at Jeremiah E. Burke High School in the city's Dorchester neighborhood was gunned down in a shooting, which injured three others.
