Authorities in Boston are investigating the attempted abduction of a child Tuesday morning in Roxbury.
Police responded just before 6:30 a.m. after a man tried to kidnap a girl near the intersection of Blue Hill Avenue and Brookford Street.
The girl was not injured, according to Boston Police, and a person in the area helped her get away from the suspect.
"Some guy grabbed her from the back, she kicked him in the leg, punched him and some person came to her rescue and the guy fled," said the girl's stepfather, Hector Rodriguez.
The girl's screams were loud enough to wake up neighbors who say they're used to the noise from the busy street.
"This made me jump up and run to the window because there was screaming and yelling, almost like crying for help," said neighbor Malina.
Rodriguez says despite what happened, his stepdaughter is doing alright.

"She's a little bit shaken up, nervous," said Rodriguez. "She’s afraid to leave house but it's not going to stop her from going to school."
Police shared a surveillance photo of a person of interest. He is described as being clean-shaven, and between six feet and 6'2. He weighs about 200 pounds and was wearing a black baseball cap, a black T-shirt and tan pants.
