Police in South Yarmouth, Massachusetts, responded on Sunday to a report of a drowning at a motel pool.
When authorities arrived at the Riverview Resort on Neptune Lane they found bystanders around the pool, and a victim underwater, lying on the bottom of the pool.
Two officers jumped into the pool and removed the victim. Lifesaving measures were performed, and the victim was transported to Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis. He was unable to be revived, and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
The victim has been identified as William Butler, 68, of Springfield Gardens, New York.
Police are conducting an ongoing investigation.
