Police Investigate Drowning of Maine Fisherman

Police in Portland, Maine, continue to investigate the death of a man whose body was found in the water near Long Wharf, though authorities say there is nothing overtly suspicious about the death.

Police say 42-year-old Paul Kirchoff, a fisherman, was last seen alive just after midnight Wednesday leaving Jay's Oyster Bar on Portland Pier. His body was found just after 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

The medical examiner says the cause of death was drowning.

Police are still investigating the circumstances leading up to the discovery of the body and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
