Police Investigate Early-Morning Shootings

Three people were wounded in two separate incidents

Police in Worcester, Massachusetts, are investigating two separate early-morning shootings that left three people wounded.

Just after 2 a.m. Sunday, police responded to UMass Memorial Hospital after a 15-year-old male was treated in the emergency room for a single gunshot wound to his leg. The victim was transported to the hospital by two friends.

Police were unable to extract any helpful details regarding the shooting from the three. A crime scene has not yet been located. Police say the males were uncooperative when investigators were questioning them.

Shortly thereafter, around 2:50 a.m., police responded to a report of shooting in the area of 111 Dorchester Street. Police discovered two wounded males upon arriving on scene.

A 16 year old was shot in the side and a 19 year old was shot in the leg. The two were taken to UMass Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say evidence discovered at the scene suggests that two sides had exchanged gunfire. Witnesses said multiple shots were fired.

The two incidents are not believed to be connected.
