2 Dead, Including Police Officer, in Waterbury Shooting

Connecticut state police are investigating the deaths of two men in Waterbury, including an off-duty police Waterbury officer.

Police said they responded to a disturbance on Marion Avenue around 5 a.m. on Wednesday and found two men dead who had been shot.

One of the victims has been identified as Hallock Yocher, 37, a 10-year veteran of the Waterbury Police Department. Police have not released the name of the second man but said the two were acquainted. No one else was in the home when police arrived and investigators said there was one gun at the scene.

Witnesses said they heard several gunshots at 4:47 a.m., then there was a pause that was followed by more gunshots.

Waterbury police and the Waterbury state's attorney's office have asked for assistance from Connecticut State Police.

"This is an isolated incident. There is no threat to the public or the community," State Trooper Kelly Grant said during a news conference. "The two deceased are acquainted. The extent of their relationship is under investigation."
