Police Investigate ‘Orchestrated' iPhone Thefts at Apple Store

Police are investigating after thieves stole thousands of dollars worth of iPhones from an Apple Store during business hours at a Massachusetts mall.

Authorities are sharing surveillance footage from the Natick Mall, where a group of thieves clad in hoodies and hats surrounded the store around 7:30 p.m.

They rush the store in what police call an "orchestrated fashion," cut the security cords and take off with 19 iPhones.

"That's crazy," Anderson DosSantos said after seeing the footage. "I don't understand why people do such crazy stuff like that."

Police say the pack of thieves was made up of both males and females who appear to be younger.

They also believe this group may be connected to a similar organized theft that happened at the Apple Store in Hingham a few weeks ago. That store is at an outdoor mall, unlike Natick.

"I feel like it's more likely to happen outside than in a mall," Connor Theriaque said.

Police say Apple placed a value on phones as more than $13,000.

The group fled on foot. After a search, they could not be found.
