Police Investigating Homicide at Hotel

Police in Burlington, Massachusetts, are investigating a homicide at a hotel near the Burlington Mall.

Guests are on edge Thursday after a woman was found dead inside the Extended Stay America hotel around 12:20 a.m. The staff at the front desk had called police after hearing a woman scream, then the sound of a gunshot.

So far, no arrests have been made, and the victim's identity is still a mystery. At least one hotel guest told necn they weren't told about the gruesome discovery.

"We just saw some cops - some police officers - on the first floor, but nobody said anything," said Carla Chavez. "So I was just wondering what was going on."

Middlesex County District Attorney Marian Ryan says police are pouring over surveillance video and any clues left behind in that room. As for how the woman died, Ryan simply ruled out a suicide, leaving the details to the medical examiner.

Ryan would not say whether or not the public is at risk Thursday night. She simply said it's a very concerning situation that remains under investigation.
