Police Investigating Worcester, Massachusetts, College Student's Death

A college student died after falling from the upper level of a parking garage in downtown Worcester, Massachusetts, Monday night, authorities said.

Nineteen-year-old Patrick Theron Degenhardt, a Worcester Polytechnic Institute sophomore, was taken to UMass Memorial Medical Center by first responders after police responded to the parking garage at 90 Thomas St. just after 11:30 p.m., where he was pronounced dead.

Worcester Police say they're actively investigating and still need to determine what happened.

Degenhardt, who was from Marriottsville, Maryland, was studying computer science and was on the spring 2014 Dean's List, according to WPI President Laurie Leshin. Counselors will be available on campus to talk to students who need help or just need to talk, Leshin said.
