Police Locate, Arrest Escaped Prisoner

Brattleboro police Captain Mark Carignan said 22-year-old Joseph Arsenault was still handcuffed when officers he escaped 7:15 p.m Wednesday.

Officials say a prisoner who escaped custody in Brattleboro, Vermont, Wednesday night was arrested Thursday night.

Bennington County Sheriff's deputies were transporting Arsenault through Brattleboro when he fled east toward downtown. Police haven't said how Arsenault managed to escape.

Necn affiliate WPTZ reports that Greenfield Police received a tip that Arsenault would be driving a vehicle at a certain location in town. Officers located him and he was arrested without incident around 10 p.m.

Residents were urged to stay inside and lock their doors if they saw him outside.
