Police say three male suspects tried to force a female student into the trunk of a car with South Carolina plates early Friday morning at the University of New Hampshire.
UNH Police say the student reported the incident at 5 p.m. after it took place at 1:45 a.m. on Garrison Avenue.
The student told police that the tan sedan pulled up next to her and two males got out and tried to convince her to come with them. Then, police say, the suspects opened the trunk and tried to get her inside.
According to police, some friends of the student came over and the suspects fled.
The student was not injured.
Durham and UNH police will provide additional patrols in the area.
