Police: Man Bludgeoned Wife to Death

Authorities are investigating after a man allegedly bludgeoned his wife to death with a hammer and fled from the their home in Peabody, Massachusetts State Police confirm.

Authorities are investigating after a man allegedly bludgeoned his wife to death and fled from the scene in Peabody, according to Massachusetts State Police.

Around 9 p.m. Friday, police responded to 5 Putnam Road. Investigation yielded that 45-year-old Donna Buonanduci had gone to her estranged husband's home earlier in the day. When their son had not heard from his mother, he went to his father's house, saw evidence of a struggle, and called 911.

Donna Buonanduci's body was found inside the home. Police determined that her husband, 46-year-old Joseph Buonanduci, had fled in her vehicle. 

Police located the vehicle on Interstate 93 southbound in Methuen at 9:35 a.m. Saturday morning. Officers pursued the vehicle to Route 213 and onto Interstate 495 northbound. Amesbury Police dropped a set of sticks that popped all four tires of the vehicle, before the suspect crashed into a guardrail and the vehicle rolled over near exit 55.

The suspect was taken into custody at 9:55 a.m. and transported to Anna Jaques Hospital. He is expected to be arraigned in Peabody District Court on Monday.

Massachusetts State Police, Peabody Police, and the Essex District Attorney's Office will investigate.
