Police: Man Charged in Attempted Robberies, Restaurant Theft in Providence

Police in Rhode Island say a Providence man faces charges after multiple attempted robberies and thefts in Providence.

Police say Thompson tried to rob a store around 10 p.m. and fled when the cashier refused to give him money.

Police say Thompson then tried to rob an Uber driver. The victim managed to jump out of the car and call police. Thompson allegedly fled the scene in the car.

Officers were called to a restaurant around 10:40 p.m. for a report of a robbery. The owners told police the suspect stole between $400 and $500 from the register.
