Police: Man Drives Wrong Way on Highway, Causes 2 Crashes

Hugo Gonzalez was involved in 2 accidents

A Springfield, Massachusetts, man is facing drunken driving and other charges after allegedly driving the wrong way on Interstate 91 and causing two crashes.

State police say 36-year-old Hugo Gonzalez drove his pickup truck south in the northbound lanes of the highway starting in Springfield at about 10:30 p.m. Sunday.

He was involved in two accidents before stopping his vehicle in the center lane of the highway in Longmeadow.

The driver of one of the other vehicles required hospitalization.

Gonzalez was also injured and was taken to Baystate Medical Center. He will be booked once released from the hospital and then brought to Springfield District Court for arraignment.

In addition to the drunken driving charge, he was charged with operating with a revoked license.
