Police in Revere, Massachusetts, are investigating a Friday night double shooting on Oak Tree Lane.
Preliminary investigation suggests that a 21-year-old man was involved in a fight at a party. Police say he was kicked out and returned with his 50-year-old stepfather and a female relative.
Police say the 21-year-old and 50-year-old men struck the residence with rocks and baseball bats, prompting the 77-year-old owner of the residence, Robert Distefano, to shoot them with a deceased family member’s handgun.
The 21-year-old suffered critical injuries, but is expected to survive. He is recovering at Massachusetts General Hospital.
The 50-year-old suffered gunshot wounds to his back and arm. His injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.
Based on the investigation, Distefano was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm within a home and not with any offenses stemming from the shooting itself. He will likely be arraigned Monday in Chelsea District Court.
