Police: Man Kidnapped Woman, Held Her Hostage

Police in Merrimack, New Hampshire, have arrested a man accused of kidnapping a woman and holding her hostage at gunpoint at his home

Police in Merrimack, New Hampshire, have arrested a man accused of kidnapping a woman and holding her hostage at gunpoint at his home.

Police received a call Tuesday night at 10:08 from the victim, who told police that she taken against her will as she was walking by James High, 49, of 12 Brookfield Drive.

The victim had a protective order against High, who she said forcefully placed her in his truck.

She said she was kept at High’s residence and that he used a firearm to keep her from leaving. She managed to escape from a window, at which point High fled the area. Police found High at his residence later that night and he was taken into custody without incident.

He is being charged with kidnapping, criminal restraint, violation of a protective order and conduct after an accident.

He was held without bail at the Hillsborough County Jail. He is due in court Wednesday.
