Police: Man Nearly Strikes Officer in Pursuit

Police in Manchester, New Hampshire, have arrested a man they say nearly hit a pedestrian and attempted to run over an officer during a pursuit Friday afternoon

Police in Manchester, New Hampshire, have arrested a man they say nearly hit a pedestrian and attempted to run over an officer during a pursuit Friday afternoon.

Calls started coming in around 3:30 p.m. for a person driving erratically in the area of Lake Avenue and Lincoln Street.

Police say the vehicle was operating at a high speed and nearly struck a pedestrian on Lincoln Street and Valley.

The Vehicle returned to Lincoln and Valley and an officer drew his gun and attempted to stop it. The vehicle then swerved and the officer jumped out of the way.

The vehicle then struck a parked truck and the driver fled on foot.

Police caught him after a foot pursuit and found that he was highly impaired on narcotics. Narcotics were also found on him.

The driver was transported to Elliot Hospital due to how impaired he was.

He will be booked once he is released from the hospital.

The driver’s name has not been released.
