Police: Man Punched 15-Month-Old During Argument

Samuel Yancey, 36, of Manchester, accused of punching a child

A Manchester, New Hampshire, man is facing charges after police say he punched a 15-month-old and the child’s mother Thursday.

An officer in the area of Victory Park responded to the scene around 1 p.m.

The female victim, Kasadye McLaren, 19, told the officer that Samuel Yancey, 36, of Manchester, was riding his bicycle close to the child’s carriage, despite her telling him to stay away.

Yancey is known to McLaren, but the two are not believed to have a domestic relationship.

She told police that an argument ensued and that Yancey punched her in the chest with a closed fist. She said that she was holding her child when Yancey threw another punch and that the closed-fisted punch hit the child, causing minor swelling and redness.

An ambulance came to the scene to check on McLaren and her child. No serious injuries were reported.

Yancey is facing charges of second degree assault and a charge of simple assault. He was scheduled to appear in court Friday morning.
