A man and a woman were struck from behind by a vehicle overnight in Fairhaven, Massachusetts, and the driver fled, according to police.
Officers responded after 2 a.m. to a report that the two victims had been found near 55 Sycamore St.
When police arrived, a 50-year-old man who had been hit was up and walking. A 40-year-old woman, however, was unconscious.
Both victims were transported to St. Luke's Hospital with serious injuries. From there, the woman was airlifted to Boston Medical Center.
A snowplow driver found the victims unconscious and called police. Though the man regained consciousness, he could not explain what had happened.
