Police: Mother Gets Third DUI After Rollover Crash With Daughter in Car

A Vermont mother is accused of her third DUI after rolling over the car she was driving with her daughter in it, police said.

Forty-year-old Buffy D. Huntington of Bolton will be arraigned on DUI, negligent driving and child cruelty charges Wednesday morning.

Richmond police say officers responded to a car crash around 1:40 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of East Main Street and Murray Drive, where they found Huntington and her 9-year-old daughter standing by a nearby home after getting out of the overturned car.

Huntington had a minor head injury from the crash, but her daughter was not injured, police said.

When police did a sobriety field test after suspecting her impairment, police say Huntington had a blood alcohol content of .206 percent.

Huntington was arrested and taken to the University of Vermont Medical Center to treat her injuries, and after she was cleared, she was taken to the Williston Police Department for processing and more impairment tests, which police say confirmed she was not sober.

Police also say her driver's license was also under criminal suspension.

Her daughter was released into her father's custody.
