Police: Mother Stole Child's Medication

Arlington Memorial High School nurse said mother had emptied out medicine capsules before dropping them off for child in Vt.

A Vermont woman is charged with drug fraud, accused of emptying out medicine capsules before dropping them off at Arlington Memorial High School for her child.

Principal Chris Barnes told Vermont State Police Thursday that the school nurse had found the empty capsules. Police determined that Anna Smith of Bennington had emptied them and took the drugs herself.

Police say Smith turned herself in. She faces charges of drug fraud, unlawful manufacturing of drugs and possession of a stimulant.

Smith was released on conditions and is due back in court on Sept. 15.
