Police: Parents Shot Up Heroin with 6-Year-Old in Car

The mother was found slumped over unconscious in the vehicle

A Hampton, New Hampshire, couple was arrested Thursday after police found them using heroin in their car with their 6-year-old son sitting in the back seat.

Elizabeth Green, 31, and Steven Quigley, 32, are both charged with endangering the welfare of a child. Green is also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia for possession of hypodermic needles.

Hampton Police responded to a report of a possible drug overdose on Thursday in a parking lot on Ocean Boulevard. Police found Green in her vehicle, unconscious, after an apparent overdose.

Quigley informed police that he and his 6-year-old son found Green unconscious and unresponsive for about eight minutes in the driver's seat of her car. Police were able to determine that Green had injected heroin, which led to her unresponsiveness. They also determined that Quigley was impaired from heroin use as well.

Further investigation revealed that both Green and Quigley were in the parked car using heroin while their 6-year-old son sat in the back seat. They were both arrested at the scene and held at the Rockingham County Jail on cash bail pending arraignment.

Their son was taken into protective custody and later released to a family member. The New Hampshire Division of Children, Youth and Families was also notified.
