Police: Rape Suspect Used Facebook to Lure Victim

Police in Easton, Massachusetts, have arrested a suspect on sexual assault charges.

Around 10:19 p.m. on Sept. 15, a police officer found a vehicle on the side of the road with a 28-year-old woman inside. She was crying and appeared to have a swollen face. The woman indicated to the officer that she had been raped and she was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital.

Police immediately began investigating. They determined that the victim was hired through Facebook by the suspect's wife to setup an internet based television service. The alleged incident occurred at the suspect's home while the suspect's wife was not there.

On Sept. 17, police arrested 42-year-old Valdeir Ferreira following a motor vehicle stop for operating a vehicle without a license. At Taunton District Court, he was charged with aggravated rape and threats to commit a crime.

Ferreira was held on $100,000 bail.
