Woman Killed While Using Crosswalk in Wilmington, Massachusetts

The exact cause of the crash is under investigation

Police in Wilmington, Massachusetts, said a woman was struck and killed by a vehicle on Wednesday afternoon while she was using the crosswalk.

According to police, the crash happened near the intersection of Main and Richmond streets, near Rite Aid, at about 3 p.m.

Authorities said the elderly driver went through a crosswalk, striking the woman then she careened into the Rite Aid parking lot, hitting two parked vehicles.

The 52-year-old woman who was struck was transported to Lahey Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the vehicle was also taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.

Police are investigating the exact cause of the crash.
