    Police in Wilmington, Massachusetts, said a woman was struck and killed by a vehicle on Wednesday afternoon while she was using the crosswalk. (Published Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2016)

    Police in Wilmington, Massachusetts, said a woman was struck and killed by a vehicle on Wednesday afternoon while she was using the crosswalk.

    According to police, the crash happened near the intersection of Main and Richmond streets, near Rite Aid, at about 3 p.m.

    Authorities said the elderly driver went through a crosswalk, striking the woman then she careened into the Rite Aid parking lot, hitting two parked vehicles.

    The 52-year-old woman who was struck was transported to Lahey Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

    The driver of the vehicle was also taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.
