Police say a 53-year-old southern Maine woman was killed after she was struck by pickup truck while crossing the street in Lewiston.
The Sun Journal reports the crash occurred at approximately 6:30 a.m. Monday on Lisbon Street.
Christine Beaulieu was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Her belongings were tossed along the road during the collision.
Police say Beaulieu was struck while crossing the street from the Mobil Mart in the direction of the Lewiston Mall. Lt. Adam Higgins says she was not in a crosswalk at the time of the crash.
Sgt. David Chick says the driver of the Toyota pickup truck was taken to the police station where he underwent toxicology tests and was interviewed.
An investigation is ongoing.
