Police Seek Info in Vermont Shooting Death

Kevin Deoliveira, 23, was found dead in a house in Burlington on Saturday

Police said they are seeking the public's help as they continue to investigate leads in the shooting death of a former University of Vermont student in Burlington on Saturday.

On Saturday around 6 p.m., Burlington Police and Fire were called to a house on Green Street for a report of a man down. The man, 23-year-old Kevin Deoliveira, who is originally from New Jersey, was determined to be deceased upon arrival.

Deoliveira's death has been tentatively ruled a homicide, and investigators said at a press conference held Monday morning that he died of a gunshot wound or wounds. The exact details, number and location of wounds have not been released.

More than 20 investigators are currently working the case. Police said they are investigating many leads, and all possible investigative avenues are being explored.

Investigators have not uncovered any information to indicate that this was a random event, or that there is any danger to the public.
