The marijuana grow operation spanned several Massachusetts towns

Police broke up a major marijuana grow operation spanning several Massachusetts towns this week.

Weymouth Police, working with a DEA task force, state police and several other departments, executed search warrants for seven residences in Carver, Randolph and Braintree, Massachusetts, and two vehicles.

During the execution of the search warrants, detectives recovered more than 2,000 marijuana plants worth about $75,000, four vehicles, a stun gun, three assault rifles and 19 other firearms.

Three people were arrested: Wai Yip Chu, 39, of Commerce Road, Braintree; Tommy Nguyen, 36, of Sampson Avenue in Braintree; and Chanh Nguyen, 42, of Marie Way in Randolph. All three were charged with trafficking in marijuana, cultivating marijuana and conspiracy to violate drug laws.

They were released Tuesday night after posting $10,000 cash bail and are scheduled to be arraigned in Quincy District Court on Wednesday.
