Authorities seized more than 60 pets found "living in indescribable filth" at a New Hampshire grooming and kennel facility on Friday.

Police and Animal Rescue League workers say most of the animals at the Sweet Paws Spa and Inn in Ossipee were malnourished and the conditions were deplorable. The New Hampshire Humane Society in Laconia said on its Facebook page that the dogs were "living in indescribable filth, covered in feces and urine."

Some dogs that were being boarded at the kennel were given back to their owners. Other animals were taken to area rescues.

The 22 dogs taken in by the humane society are reportedly doing better, but are a bit "shell-shocked." All of the dogs have had a bath, and are eating well. They are expected to eventually be offered up for adoption.

The owners of the kennel could not be reached for comment.

Anyone interested in making a donation to the New Hampshire Humane Society can go to the organization's website.
