Police in Tamworth, New Hampshire, are warning parents to be careful after a girl was asked by a stranger if she wanted a ride home at a bus stop.

The incident happened at 4 p.m. at the intersection of Cleveland Hill and Brown Hill.

The girl told police a gray or silver-colored sedan stopped next to her and the male driver asked if she wanted a ride. She said no and kept walking and the man drove away.

The man is described as 30-40-years-old with brown hair and a full beard. The vehicle he was driving is said to have a loud exhaust and raised hood and is described similar to a Ford Focus or Honda Civic.

Police say parents should not panic as the man's intentions were unknown, but remind them to inform their children about stranger dangers.
