Police in Tamworth, New Hampshire, are warning parents to be careful after a girl was asked by a stranger if she wanted a ride home at a bus stop.

The incident happened at 4 p.m. at the intersection of Cleveland Hill and Brown Hill.

The girl told police a gray or silver-colored sedan stopped next to her and the male driver asked if she wanted a ride. She said no and kept walking and the man drove away.

The man is described as 30-40-years-old with brown hair and a full beard. The vehicle he was driving is said to have a loud exhaust and raised hood and is described similar to a Ford Focus or Honda Civic.

Police say parents should not panic as the man's intentions were unknown, but remind them to inform their children about stranger dangers.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call police at 603-323-8581.
