Police: Town Employee Videotaped Women in Restroom

Arlington, Mass. DPW employee Joseph Hennessey was arrested for taking video in Kickstand Cafe

A town employee in Arlington, Massachusetts, has been arrested for videotaping women in the restroom of a restaurant.

Fifty-three-year-old Joseph Hennessey is in police custody and charged with disturbing the peace and photographing an unsuspecting nude person.

There was no comment from the Kickstand Cafe, but police say the suspect sat in the restaurant's common area and watched the live feed on the camera he allegedly left in the bathroom.

People who frequent the cafe find it very disturbing.

Police say Hennessey is an Arlington Department of Public Works employee, currently out on compensation. Authorities say they went to the Massachusetts Avenue restaurant around 8 a.m. Saturday on a report of a suspicious person.

They spoke with an alleged victim and confiscated a camera that the suspect allegedly placed in a fake basket of flowers in the women's bathroom. Police also took a small video receiver that he had in his possession.

Hennessey, who lives in Salem, New Hampshire, was arrested. Police believe he may engaged in this behavior at other establishments around town, as well.

The suspect has been held without bail pending an arraignment, scheduled for Monday.
