Police: Would-Be Robber Chased Out of Home by Teen

A suspected would-be robber was arrested after a teenager home sick from school chased him out of his home

A suspected would-be robber was arrested after a teenager home sick from school chased him out of his Quincy, Massachusetts, home Thursday morning, police confirm.

Brendan Oliverio, 27, of Quincy, was arrested after a police dog tracked him through a marsh.

Sixteen-year-old Rob Smith told police he was on the second floor of his home and heard knocked on his front door around 11 a.m. He did not recognize the man, identified as Oliverio, who went to the side door to knock after a while.

Smith said he didn't recognized the man outside and observed him, eventually calling 9-1-1. Around that same time, the man eventually went around to the back of the house and entered through a basement bulkhead door.

"During the phone call, I heard him inside. I was in the middle of giving the description when suddenly I realized I heard him downstairs and said, 'Wait, he's in my house now,' and that's when he came up the stairs near by bedroom and I yelled at him to get out," Smith said.

The man fled, but police say Oliverio was spotted by a neighbor who called 911, and was tracked through a marsh a short time later by a police dog.

The student and neighbor positively identified the suspect.

Oliverio was arraigned Friday.
