Police Investigate Body Found in Durham, Maine, Recreational Area

Police say the body appears to be a middle aged man

State police are investigating the discovery of a man's body in a Durham, Maine, parking lot.

Police say the body appears to be a middle aged man and his body was discovered in the parking lot of Runaround Pond. No vehicle was found nearby. Police say a man using a portable rest room at the parking lot found the body Tuesday morning.

The man has been identified as Alan Kelley, 43, of Durham. He had recently been living at a homeless shelter in Lewiston.

There is no immediate indication of foul play, police said. A hypodermic needle was found in Kelley's clothing.

Police said they are still trying to determine how and when Kelley arrived at the Runaround Pond area, since he had no car. He also was not dressed for the sub-freezing temperatures.
