It was a frightening scene in Melrose, Massachusetts, as SWAT teams went door-to-door, searching for two men who carjacked a 14-year-old boy in Revere Friday.
"I froze for a couple of minutes," Evan, who's from Malden, said.
He was sitting in the passenger seat of his mom's car at the NorthGate Shopping Plaza in Revere with the SUV idling while his mom was in a store, when all of a sudden, the two suspects got in the car and sped off.
"This dude is probably going 80 miles per hour, very fast on the highway," said Evan.
He says his quick thinking kicked in, and also stayed calm.
"I told them 'I have this GPS on my phone. Sooner or later the police are going to find you guys,'" he said.
He also called his mom immediately, speaking in Creole, so they wouldn't understand.

"He's a brave kid, very brave kid," said Melrose Police Chief Michael Lyle.
Police say the men eventually ditched the vehicle at a construction site in Melrose, and took off on foot prompting a multi-hour manhunt that scared residents.
Even though the two haven't been caught, Evan is thanking a higher power. He says he feels lucky to be living.
"Bless God. That's all I got to say," he said.
Police don't believe the suspects ever had a firearm. As for a motive for the carjacking, police believe the two suspects skipped out on a cab fare right before, and could have been in possession of stolen goods.
