Power Mostly Restored in Northern, Central Maine After Outages Caused by Severe Storm

More than 2,100 customers lost power by Monday afternoon

Utility crews say they have restored most of the power lost in northern and central Maine during a series of powerful thunderstorms.

More than 2,100 customers lost power by Monday afternoon. The outages were mostly spread around Penobscot and Piscataquis counties.

Emera Maine says the outages had been reduced to about 400 as of Monday night. The utility says crews have been cleaning up and restoring power after storms that brought heavy rain, thunder, lightning and strong winds.

Emera Maine says the final customers without power were mostly clustered in the Corrina and Exeter areas. Crews were clearing debris and making repairs overnight into Tuesday morning.
