Power Outages Reported in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut

Nearly 6,000 are without power in Southern New England

Power outages are being reported in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut as a powerful storm batters much of the East Coast Saturday evening.

According to Eversource, there are 5,918 customers without power in Massachusetts, with the highest number of outages in Plymouth, Marshfield, Edgartown and Eastham.

32 National Grid customers are reporting outages, down from 2827 earlier Saturday night.

Providence-affiliate WJAR reports that power was shut off on Block Island around 2 p.m. Saturday during blizzard conditions because of strong winds displacing power lines. There's no word on when the power will be restored for the island's 900 residents.
