A powerful storm ripped through Greater Boston on Tuesday afternon, causing damage in Boston, Somerville and Cambridge, among other areas.
Wind damage was reported in South Boston, Somerville, Cambridge and Medford, according to weather spotter reports. There were also reports of pea-sized hail at Boston's Logan International Airport.
Cambridge Fire Department tweeted that they were responding to numerous calls of limbs and wires down. Cambridge police tweeted out nearly 30 reports of trees and limbs down across the city.
Several Somerville residents also tweeted out pictures of torrential rain and uprooted trees.
"I saw the lightning flash. Then immediately the thunder," recalled Somerville resident Geoffrey Borggaard who was left to clean up damage in his yard. "So it was like right in the neighborhood. The rain didn't start until like a minute or two later and then it came down and it started to hail and the wind... and it was intense."
In Medford, one large tree fell on Riverside Avenue, blocking half of the street.
At Colonial Nissan in Medford, about a half dozen vehicles were damaged from the heavy wind and rain.

"For about five minutes it was just really hard rain the wind was going everywhere water was actually completely my through under the doors," said Shak Semexant, who works at the dealership.
Multiple trees uprooted large branches and about 10 cars were damaged including some that had their windshields blown out.
"Say about four or 5 over there that got trees over them right now. A couple in the back maybe 7 or 8 cars that got some damage," Semexant said.
No injuries were reported.
Officials at the dealership said they don't know yet exactly how much it will cost to repair the vehicles.
Downed trees and wires were also reported in Quincy, Hull, Hingham and Weymouth.
About 1,200 customers were without power by 10:30 p.m.
