President Obama Speaks to Parents of Massachusetts Teen Killed in Israel

He offered his condolences and condemned the attack during the call

President Barack Obama has spoken with the parents of 18-year-old Ezra Schwartz, a Massachusetts teen killed in an attack in Israel.

Obama offered his condolences and condemned the attack during the call with Ari and Ruth Schwartz on Monday. Obama said that Ezra's studies in Israel strengthened the bonds between Israel and the United States.

Secretary of State John Kerry also spoke with the family on Monday.

Gov. Charlie Baker told reporters Monday that he had what he called a "father to father" conversation with Ari Schwartz.

Schwartz, who was from Sharon and graduated this year from the Maimonides School, was one of three people killed last Thursday by a Palestinian motorist who intentionally rammed his vehicle into a group of pedestrians in a West Bank area south of Jerusalem.
