Prosecutors Oppose Hernandez Fiancee's Perjury Charges Being Dropped

Shayanna Jenkins' attorney filed a motion last month saying there wasn't sufficient evidence provided to a grand jury

In new paperwork filed on Tuesday, prosecutors said they oppose perjury charges being dropped against the finance of former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez.

Last month, Shayanna Jenkins' defense attorney filed a motion in Bristol County saying prosecutors failed to provide sufficient evidence to a grand jury.

The defense's legal memo supporting their argument was filed under seal, but in the new paperwork, prosecutors say Jenkins wasn't prejudiced in any way by the state.

In one case, prosecutors say Jenkins lied when she said she had not communicated with Ernest Wallace, Hernandez's alleged right-hand man, after the murder of Odin Lloyd. Prosecutors say she made or received 11 calls to Wallace, according to the document.

In total, prosecutors have said Jenkins lied to the grand jury nearly 30 times, including saying she couldn't recall where she left a large box Hernandez allegedly told her to throw away.

Hernandez has plead not guilty to Lloyd's murder in North Attleboro, Massachusetts, and a double murder in Boston in July 2012.
