An East Providence man has admitted that he was the ringleader of a sex trafficking operation that transported two teenage girls over the Rhode Island line into Massachusetts.
Twenty-year-old Reginald Chaney pleaded guilty Tuesday in Providence federal court to charges that he conspired with two fellow teens to bring two minors, ages 15 and 16, to a Seekonk, Massachusetts motel for prostitution.
In exchange for the guilty plea, federal prosecutors agreed to recommend that Chaney is sentenced to serve 10 years in prison - the mandatory minimum sentence. Chaney is required to register as a sex offender upon his release.
Law enforcement was alerted to Chaney after one of the victims' parents learned of the sex trafficking ring following her disappearance in January 2015.
