Raging Fire in Methuen, Mass. Leaves a Dozen Homeless

The home is a total loss

A fast-moving fire forced a dozen people out of their home in Methuen, Massachusetts overnight Saturday.

Everyone made it out of the multi-family home on Pleasant Street, but the smoke was so thick, a mother and child who lived next door had to be hospitalized for smoke inhalation.

Investigators say they don't believe the smoke alarms went off.

“My neighbor just started banging on the door - he said, 'There’s a fire, there’s a fire, come out!' I woke up my boyfriend and then we just ran out,” said Stacey Pena.

The home is believed to be a total loss.
