Sale ‘Ready to Go' in Game 1 of World Series

Red Sox ace Chris Sale said he was "ready to go" a day before the start of the World Series.

"That's what we signed up for. This is what we prepared for all year, the chance to win a championship," Sale said. "We're all excited, ready to go."

Sale will take the mound Tuesday in Boston against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The lefty missed an ALCS start after being hospitalized with a reported stomach illness, has resumed throwing and is set to start Tuesday. He talked about the issue over the weekend, joking that a belly-button ring was to blame.

A reporter asked him Monday how it felt to be a fashion trendsetter after noting that teammate Brock Holt said he would get a belly-button ring and a nipple ring if the Sox won the World Series.

"That's just what I do," Sale said with a laugh. "Fashionista, I guess."

Sale said he would have started Game 6 if the Astros extended the series.

"I was lined up for Game 6. Obviously, [David Price] and [Rafael] Devers and everybody else had a different way of going about it," Sale said. "I was ready to go then, I'm ready to go now, and I'm looking forward to it."

Manager Alex Cora praised his players, including Sale, when he addressed the media Monday.

"It's a fun group. And since Day 1," Cora said, "you had a feeling that the city was going to fall in love with them."
