Red Sox Manager John Farrell Fined, Suspended

Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell has been fined and suspended a game for his exchange with an umpire on Saturday.

MLB.com executive reporter Mark Feinsand tweeted Tuesday that Farrell would miss a game and pay an unspecified fine. Farrell will serve the suspension Tuesday night, according to Comcast SportsNet New England's Evan Drellich.

Farrell was ejected after getting into a shouting match with umpire Bill Miller over a balk call against reliever Fernando Abad during the seventh a game at Fenway Park against the Los Angeles Angels.

"Time was called. Time was clearly called before the balk was called," Farrell said after the game, according to the Associated Press. "So that was the dispute."

"We went back to John and told him the balk happened before time was called," Miller argued, the AP reported. "John didn't accept that answer and he was quite adamant that time had been called first and therefore the balk should have been nullified."
