Registered Sex Offender Pleads Not Guilty to Child Rape Charges

Bail for Daniel Ferreira, 35, of Rehoboth, Mass., was set at $50,000 with conditions

A registered sex offender who allegedly raped a 15-year-old boy in Rehoboth, Massachusetts, earlier this week plead not guilty at his Friday morning arraignment.

In court, 35-year-old Daniel Ferreira of Rehoboth admitted to oral sex with the victim, but denied forcing him.

Prosecutor Jeffrey Daley said on Sept. 17, Ferreira drove by the victim numerous times after school on Providence Street; in fact, the prosecution added, the teen told another person in another car that Ferreira was driving by him.

When Ferreira stopped, the victim asked if he had any marijuana, and the two went into a wooded area to smoke together, according to Daley. However, when Ferreira allegedly asked about performing oral sex on the victim and the victim said no, authorities say Ferreira pulled the victim's pants down and performed oral sex.

According to Rehoboth Police, the teen victim spoke to an officer Thursday after revealing to school officials he had been sexually assaulted. Ferreira was then picked up by police.

Ferreira was convicted of enticing a minor under 16 in 2004. In 2008, he was charged with violation; however, the case was dismissed.

Bail for Ferreira was set at $50,000 cash. He's also been ordered to stay away from the victim and must report to probation twice a week and remain at home with GPS monitoring.

He's due back in court on Oct. 9 and currently has a public defender.
