Report: Animal Control Agent Paid To Trap, Kill Skunks

Plan in Newburyport, Mass. is stirring up quite a controversy

A plan to trap and kill skunks in Newburyport, Massachusetts, is causing controversy.

The Boston Globe reports that a four-member board, which oversees a public park, voted to pay $75 to an animal control agent to get rid of the skunks.

Now, State Environmental Police are questioning whether the killings violate state law.

Officials say the skunks have not caused any problems for park visitors.

One of the members of the board told the Globe the decision was a preventative measure.
