Report: DCF Investigating Central Mass. Offices

According to the Boston Herald, Commissioner Linda Spears said efforts will be made to identify problems with offices in the region

The head of the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families will be focusing investigation efforts on Central Mass. Offices following the recent high-profile death of several children under their care.

According to the Boston Herald, Commissioner Linda Spears said efforts will be made to identify problems with offices in the region.

Most recently, a 2-year-old child died and another remains hospitalized after they were both found unresponsive at their Auburn foster home Saturday.

DCF officials had just visited the family days earlier and DCF officials say three of the 10 workers assigned to the case were unlicensed.

In Hardwick, 7-year-old Jack Loiselle was found unconscious in his room on July 14 and remains in a coma. Officials say his father, Randall Lints, beat and starved the boy.

The DCF says a counselor had seen jack and his father three times in recent months and that a social worker saw him just two weeks before he was rushed to the hospital.
