A New Hampshire election worker has been fired after her apparent mixing of church and state, according to New Hampshire's Union Leader.

Ruth Provencal was reportedly fired for saying "God bless you," among other things, to voters in Derry.

Election officials claim her comments may have persuaded people to vote a certain way.

Electioneering, as it is known, is a misdemeanor in New Hampshire.

The Catholic League has sent a letter of protest to the secretary of state.
