Resident Brings Hand Grenade to Brookline, Massachusetts, Police Station

The lobby of a suburban Boston police station was temporarily shut down after a resident brought in a hand grenade they said they had found in their home.

Members of the Boston Police Department's Bomb Unit were dispatched Monday to Brookline Police Department headquarters after the resident arrived with the explosive.

A tweet from Brookline police's account sent out around 2:30 p.m. said the lobby was closed as officers waited for the bomb squad to arrive.

The grenade was removed from the building and the lobby was reopened approximately 20 minutes later. A follow-up tweet stated "All safe and back to normal" following the incident's conclusion.

The Brookline Fire Department also responded to the scene.
