Response Time to Winery Fire Questioned

The fire at the Obadiah McIntyre Farm and Winery at 44 Old Worcester Road broke out in August

The response time for fire officials to arrive on the scene of an arson fire which burned down an award-winning winery in Charlton, Massachusetts, is being questioned, according to the Telegram and Gazette.

The fire at the Obadiah McIntyre Farm and Winery at 44 Old Worcester Road broke out in August. Twelve different fire departments responded.

The Telegram and Gazette reports it took more than 20 minutes from the first 911 call for the first fire engine to arrive on scene.

Officials say there was no water supply and spaces were tight in which to fight the fire, but the Telegram and Gazette reports there was a pond near the fire and a hydrant nearby as well.

Firefighters also allegedly watched the fire burn without doing anything.

Owner Nathan Benjamin said he lost everything in the fire.
