Runners, Walkers Raise Money for Veterans, Families to Help Treat Invisible Wounds of War

The 2015 "Run to Home Base" is a 9K run and 2 mile walk fundraising event

The 2015 "Run to Home Base" is a fundraising event taking place on July 25.

It's a 9K run and a 2-mile walk and all funds raised will benefit the "Home Base Program."

Participants will either run or walk through Boston, ending with the experience of crossing "home base" at Fenway Park.

Each runner had to raise a minimum of $1,000 to participate, but that wasn't a problem for the 2,200 runners and more than 300 servicemen and women taking part in the 6th annual event.

The Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital's "Home Base Program" is dedicated to healing the invisible wounds of war, such as post traumatic stress or traumatic brain injury, for post 9/11 veterans and families.
