A novelist who lost his 30-foot sailboat on an Atlantic crossing is ready to set sail again.

Michael Hurley of South Carolina says he's penned a new novel that will be published in the spring. And he says he's "getting back on the horse that threw me" by purchasing a 32-foot sailboat and making plans to sail around the world.

Hurley, who's living in Wales, says he named the boat "Nevermore." That's both a nod to Edgar Allen Poe but a signal that this will be his last boat.

Hurley lives outside Charleston, South Carolina, and the boat that was scuttled in the Atlantic was named for one of his books, "The Prodigal." He was rescued last June by Maine Maritime Academy students aboard the training vessel, State of Maine.
